Letter to Dad - Reginald Holms

There are so many things I'd like
To tell you face to face;
I either lack the words or fail
To find the time or place.

But in this special letter, Dad,
You'll find, at least in part,
The feelings that the passing years
Have left within my heart.

The memories of childhood days
And all that you have done
To make our home a happy place
And growing up such fun.

I still recall the walks we took,
The games we often played;
Those confidential chats we had
While resting in the shade.

This letter comes to thank you, Dad,
For needed words of praise;
The counsel and guidance, too,
That shaped my grown-up days.

No words of mine can tell you, Dad,
The things I really feel;
But you must know my love for you
Is lasting, warm and real.

You made my world a better place
And through the coming years,
I'll keep these memories of you
As cherished souvenirs!

As I write this, I am aware of the time lapse of some of these items, but when I found this poem, Letter to Dad, I thought of the many fathers' who would like to get this "letter to Dad". I would like to pay tribute to Milton Sommerfeld whose birthday party was held in our fellowship hall right after the stewardship dinner. His children went "all out" to made it a great day for Milt's 90th birthday. He said he is going for 100. Hope he makes it!!

The Sunday that Rev. Michael was at Annual Conference the YAH group did the church service. They used some of the women that had portrayed "Women of the Bible" at the mother and daughter annual tea. This was good because many of the church women had not been at the tea. So they got to hear some of the things they missed.

I am sure that you have all been told by now that Rev. Michael has been reappointed to Olive Crest United Methodist Church for another year. Also that Jason McGuire our Peace Advocate is moving to Florida. Also, Micole Morgan graduated from high school and is working this summer and is going to our Methodist College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, in Lincoln, NE this fall. She graduated with high honors and we are all very proud of her and also thankful for the many things she has done for Olive Crest.

The people that went to the annual church picnic had a very good time. The children were allowed to bring water guns, So Rev. Michael got a real soaking!!
