Vacation Bible School
2001 "Beach Trek"
Children and adults gathered at Olive Crest during the week of July 23-27 for a
Vacation Bible School "Beach Trek" to find God's Living Water.
The kitchen crew arrived early to have supper and snacks ready as volunteers
and students arrived at 6:00 p.m. Cindy Pafford, head chef, led her crew of Sandy
Holling, Gen Edginton, Amy Atkins, Darlene and Marv Widman, Melissa and Amy Pafford,
and Tymna Vacek.
Gabrielle Staben staffed the registration table and collected offerings in the
three team offering bags.
Playtime was supervised 6-7:00 p.m. by Jerry Luce and after 9:00 p.m. by Ron
Holling. Jerry and Sue Luce weighed and counted the students offering each night.
By week's end the offering totaled $91.72 to be donated to the Bishops' Appeal
"Hope for the Children of Africa" Advance special #101000-4. They also collected
296 Campbell Soup Labels to be donated to Epworth Village Youth home in York
Nebraska (run by the United Methodist Women).
Each night's learning activities began with songs led by Brenda Jones.
Then students rotated through 3 sessions:

2) Activities led by Brenda Jones and her crew of Marjorie Jones Nolen Gilreath,
Bryan Stinson (some more people but I can't read the handwriting ed. note)
3) Bible Lessons were taught by Arlene Newell and Matt Jones provided child
care for our tiny tots too young for classes.
Adult Class: Rev. Michael and his adult class previewed the Alpha Introduction
to Christianity videotapes to help get this program ready for the whole church.
Many people donated food, cookies and supplies for crafts and activities.
Thanks to all the volunteers who gave of their time and talents to make V.B.S. a
fun successful "Beach Trek".
V.B.S. activities concluded during our Worship service on July 29th.
Rev. Michael shared a Children's moment with them where he did a magic trick and then
the children sang two of their favorite songs and presented their Mission Offering
