GONE ON TO GLORY
Ferne Messick passed away on Thursday, January 24th at 1:00 a.m. Her funeral was on Saturday, January 26th at 10:00 a.m.


CELEBRATE! to sing at Elkhorn Hills UMC Benefit Supper on February 9th. Elkhorn Hills is sponsoring a special evening on Saturday, Feb. 9th. It begins with a dinner and silent auction, followed by CELEBRATE! Celebrate is an exciting vocal group that has performed in various Nebraska communities, South Dakota and Kansas, preparing for a national tour. Celebrate! entertains in an exciting, fun-filled show featuring a wide variety of staged and choreographed music. There are also moments of inspiration when Celebrate! sings in a more formal concert setting or adds the beauty of sign language to a selection. Then selected audience members will be invited to join in the show and a tribute to Broadway will be staged, based on the popular musical Oliver! Finally, Celebrate! traditionally closes their performance with America Sings, an inspirational salute to our great country. The Supper and Auction begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center and Celebrate! will perform at 7:00 p.m. Proceeds from the evening will go to Mark and Carol Geick to help with medical expenses. This is an evening in which you and your entire family will want to share.

FIVE DAY ACADEMY FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION
The Nebraska Five Day Academy for Spiritual Formation February 17-22, 2002 in Schuyler, Nebraska. This Five Day Academy will incorporate both lecture and prayerful reflection on Hebrew prayer and the spirituality of the Psalms as they interface with our worship and spirituality as Christians. The yearnings of people everywhere for the Divine is given voice in the poetry, the emotions, and the dialogic prayer of the Psalms, calling out and responding to God and with God.   • Topic: Community with Children and the Poor: Renewing the Episcopal Initiative
  • Dates & Times: Wednesday, February 27 - March 27, 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. (Central Time)
  • Format: The Bishop will help us focus on biblical imperatives regarding children and the poor and Ms. Regier will help us center on challenges today within Nebraska communities and the world. Both will facilitate a group processing of brainstorming what can be done through our local congregations.
  • Who should attend: Adults and youth. There will be planned activities for children grades 1-6 and child care for preschoolers at a nearby church.
  • Confirmed sites are: North Platte, Ainsworth, Beartrice, Grand Island, Omaha, Columbus, Kearney and Lincoln.
